James Douglas "Doug" Traver Jr. of Medford, NJ died Tuesday January 22, 2008 at Virtua West Jersey Hospital in Marlton. He was 59. Doug was born in Glen Ridge, NJ to Marjorie Ross Traver and the late James Douglas Traver Sr.
Doug graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in 1966 attended the US Naval Academy (Class of 1970) and graduated from Bucknell University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
Doug has been employed by the Alaimo Group in Mount Holly for the past 37 years. He was a member of the Urban Designers and Environmental Planners the American Society of Civil Engineers and the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer and a Licensed Professional Planner in the State of New Jersey. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of Maryland. For the past 35 years Doug has represented the Alaimo Group as the consulting engineer for Maple Shade Township Riverton Borough and the Burlington Township Zoning Board. In 1982 Doug received the Municipal Project of the Year Award by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers for the design of the Assiscunk Creek Park Project in Burlington Township.
Doug was happy when he was outdoors - sailing swimming gardening and golfing. He was a member of Deerwood Country Club. His happiest moments were spent with family and friends at the beach on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he had a home.
He is survived by his wife Lynn of Modesto, CA; his two sons Christopher Douglas Traver of Washington, DC and Brian Ross Traver of New York City; his mother Marge of Mount Holly; two sisters Susan Skoviak & her husband Jack of Naples, FL and Sally Thomas & her husband Richard of Haddon Heights and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Doug's life will be held on Saturday January 26 2008 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Eastampton 1341 Woodlane Rd. Eastampton, NJ. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Doug's memory to the American Cancer Society 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Donations will benefit cancer research.
